One of the key considerations when designing a patio is what size it should be.  The wedding reception / graduation party times of life come for about every family, yet most of us don’t want to feel like we are sitting on a paved parking lot when we entertain small groups.  Thus, creativity is needed:  how can a space function for the larger group, yet feel intimate for smaller gatherings?  There’s no easy answer, but plenty of opportunities to make a space interesting with shade structures, level changes, moveable planters, seat walls, and planting pockets.  Material selection is another factor:  what will be functional, easy to maintain, yet beautiful and fit the style of the house?  Ask us for our knowledge:  we keep up on materials and have experience with various types of locally available and more unique surfaces.
