Jerry and Judi Budi had a problem. Forever cleaning out debris from under his deck and realizing it really was just wasted space, they began to dream of possibilities for this underutilized area. Sanding and sealing the deck every couple of years also made them realize that the original wood probably needed to be upgraded. Our designers proposed a new living space under the deck that would give way to an outdoor firepit patio. Cultured stone covers the old concrete basement walls, and, applied to new seat walls, retaining walls, pulls the look into the yard. A larger synthetic deck gives more usable space right off the kitchen. Wide, comfortable deck steps lead to a waterproof “dry space” under the deck: an excellent, shady place to spend a summer afternoon. Natural stone steps off the driveway beckon toward sounds of water as the waterfall cascades into a pondless reservoir. A firepit and soft downlighting create an unforgettable ambiance as you relax in this unique, fully utilized backyard.
