As one of the icons of Springfield, Ferncliff Cemetery was running out of room. Plenty of space was available, so the board decided to develop some new areas in the lower part off of Plum Street. Working off a plan developed by EnvisionWorks of Dayton, a new road and curbing was installed to allow for a new burial section. That section was graded and seeded, also new trees were installed. The existing spring fed pond was enhanced with a drainage system and river rock stream bed - keeping the new lower ponds full and clean. A large pump was installed in the lower pond creates a 12’ wide waterfall. Limestone boulders that mimic the natural bluffs on the property act as retaining walls around the lower and upper ponds.
